Waxing done right...
I primarily use a high quality hard wax, however when appropriate I also use a soft strip wax. I take great pride in providing my clients with a positive waxing experience in a sanitary environment and have a strict NO DOUBLE DIPPING POLICY! For more details on how I encourage clients to care for their waxing service, please see the info listed below.
Waxing is a personal service and I do my best to be mindful of modesty and individual personal comfort levels. I can always modifiy a service to better suit a clients needs. Please feel free to get in touch, I am always happy to answer questions.
-Hair growth must be at least 1/2 inch to provide an effective waxing service.
-Avoid dehydration. Minimize alcohol and caffeine consumption and drink lots of water prior to your appointment. Dehydrated skin tightens pores and holds onto the hair creating more resistance in the removal process.
-Do not exfoliate for a few days prior to your appointment. Waxing by nature has an exfoliating effect on the skin.
-Waxing may adversly affect the appearance of self tanners due to the exfoliating nature of this service.
-If you are pregnant, nursing, pre or post menstrual it is safe to wax, however please realize depending on your hormones, you may be more sensitive.
-Regretfully, waxing can not be performed on individual using Acutane (must wait 6 months after discontinuing use), Retin-A products or antibiotics (must wait at least 3 weeks after discontinuing use) due to the skin sensitivities that can be caused by these products. Other drugs may also have contraindications.
Post Wax Care
-Wear loose fitting clothing after your waxing appointment.
-Book your appointment after your daily exercise routine and shower.
-It is advisable to avoid sunbathing/tanning beds (4-5 days), creams, self tanners, products containing alcohol and deodorant for at least 2-3 days after a waxing treatment.
-Use a topical product made for post waxing.
-Refrain from swimming/soaking for at least 48 hours post waxing. Includes swimming pools, hot tubs, oceans, lakes rivers, pedicure tubs, etc.
-Avoid ingrown hairs by maintaining a regular exfoliation and moisturizing routine. No not use a loofah or any other natural fiber to exfoliate, they are porous and absorb/harbor bacteria. Instead choose a nylon bath puff or nylon exfoliating shower mits/gloves; these dry quickly and can be put in the laundry easily.
-Use great care (especially post waxing) to keep skin free of bacteria and irritation.
